View map to location of F.E.W.D. winter coat distribution site -
Hundreds of new and gently used coats are waiting for students in need and will be distributed by F.E.W.D. (Faith and Education Winter Donations) program, supported by Project Fresh Start through the Ankeny Community Education Department: No need analysis form is required to receive needed winter wear.  Recipients will only be asked for student age and proof of Ankeny residence (such as driver’s license or a bill with an Ankeny address).  View more information on the donation drive.
Daylight Savings Time Ends This Weekend
Don't forget: Daylight savings time ends and we return to standard time this weekend at 2:00 AM Sunday, November 2.  Remember to set your clocks back ("fall back") one hour Saturday night.
November 6 flu clinic location changed to Southview Middle School -
The Polk County Health Department flu clinic originally scheduled to be held at Ankeny High School on November 6 has been changed to Southview Middle School at 1020 SW Cherry Street.  Please note this change of location.  Ankeny Community School District is again partnering with the Polk County Health Department to provide seasonal flu vaccination clinics, and vaccinations will be available to all staff and students, and to the public.  Learn more about the flu clinics here.
Kids learn about "super foods" during Community Ed class:
Ankeny Community Education and Ankeny Prairie Trail Hy-Vee dietitians partnered to bring a new experience to youth in second through fifth grades.  The "Super Food Snack Attack" course on October 18 was a fun, hands-on class focusing on "super foods."  Read more about this class for elementary students.

Pay-to-Ride busing 2nd semester registration is now open:
Ankeny Schools are pleased to again offer an optional pay-to-ride student transportation program for elementary and middle school students who live within two miles of their assigned school and high school students who live within three miles of their assigned school.  Sign-up for second semester is now underway, and closes on December 15.  Learn more about the program here.
